About Matthew Kavanagh

I have spent nine years in Indiana civil litigation, and I have worked both sides of it. I started in insurance defense, moved to medical malpractice defense, and then went to the plaintiff side, where I have stayed. Two of my five jobs were spent defending insurance companies and their insureds. That is not something I gloss over. It is the reason I know what the other side of the file looks like, how a claim gets valued internally, and what actually moves an adjuster.

I started Kavanagh Injury Law in 2026 because the standard personal injury fee did not make sense to me. Most Indiana firms charge a third, and many jump to 40% once a lawsuit is filed. I charge a flat 20% from the first call through trial and appeal, and it never goes up. The work does not get worse because the fee is lower. It is the same litigation I have been doing since 2017.

I handle Indiana cases directly: auto and truck collisions, slip and falls and other premises claims, pedestrian and bicycle injuries, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, and wrongful death. I take a deliberately small number of files so that the person who signs your case is the person who works it.
